DECEITFUL SPEECH

•Deceitful people cannot be trusted in what they say nor in what they say they'll do (Pr. 12:5-6)

•Deceitful people are motivated by what they believe is in their best interests (12:7)

•Deceitful people do not think about the long-tern consequences of their choices (12:19; 14:3) 

Proverbs talks about the importance of hard work and how this is honoring to the Lord. It also talks about the dangers of laziness.

HOW TO FACE ANOTHER'S ANGER

- Don't respond with similar speech (15:1)

- Make every effort at being gracious (21:14)

- Seek to understand with humility (29:8)

"Plans" and "words" concern our disposition (16:1)

"Ways" and "spirit" concern our motives (16:2)

"Work" and "plans" concern our ambitions (16:3)

To Gain Hope Shift Your Perspective

• Shift your perspective on time
• Shift your perspective on the difficulty
• Shift your perspective on your strength

Biblical Wisdom is:

•PRACTICAL – it is good for every day living (1 Kings 10:45)

•INTELLECTUAL – it can be learned and shared with others (Pro. 1:2-4)

•MORAL – it causes you to put others before yourself (Pro. 1:3)

(1) Truth’s enemy is pride; therefore, the best path to living truthfully is walking humbly (Pro. 30:7-9).

•Humility is alert to self-confidence (3:9).

•Humility is averse to self-pity (3:9).

•Humility is aware of self-deception (14:8

 

(2) Truth’s counterweight is mercy; therefore, how we speak what is true matters (Pro. 3:3-4).

•Grace and truth is how we best glorify God (3:4).

•Grace and truth is how we best help others (Eph. 5:15).

•Grace and truth is how we are most like Jesus (Jn. 1:14).
